Mapping evidence to obligations

20 May 2026 4 min read Evidence

Evidence only counts when it is tied to the obligation it satisfies — how to map cleanly.

The mapping

Each obligation should point to the evidence that demonstrates it. Unmapped evidence is invisible to an assessment and to an auditor.

Practical approach

  • Start from the obligation list.
  • Attach the strongest available evidence to each.
  • Flag obligations with no evidence as gaps.

Payoff

A clean map is the fastest way to answer 'show me how you meet this'.

This is an educational explainer. For the canonical regulation reference, see the dedicated Evidence page — or run an assessment to see how it applies to your product.
